Issue 04 —
In this issue we have focused our energy on celebrating and infusing the classic and contemporary. The perfect start for this is our cover feature, - a piece on how the brilliant Australian duo Pnau has reworked and reinvented material from the one and only Elton John. The end result has been an impressive collection of songs that have gone raging straight into # 1 in the UK pop charts this week. This month we also bring in a brand new feature entitled 'The Greatest SOUNDS of All Time' - a section where we take a particular track which we believe to have influenced popular culture and one that has had a particular impact, not only on the recording artist or the music world, but ultimately, on us. This month we have selected 'It's Now or Never' - the most commercially successful song by the incomparable and unbeatable Elvis Presley. SOUNDS is still a developing title and we are aiming to gather and feature the most important music news, artists, and topics within the ever-changing musical landscape. This is why, with this issue, we are also introducing the 'L.A. Scene Report', a section where you will get first-hand news of current music affairs in a city that has historically been the birthplace for legendary acts such as Shuggie Otis, Eagles, The Doors, Etta James as well as more contemporary artists including The Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars and Far East Movement. As usual, we are also featuring some of the most exciting talent emerging into the charts, including British soul sensation Rebecca Ferguson, the intriguing Alex Winston and the heart-wrenchingly sweet Sea of Bees. BIGkids is this month's main Breaking SOUND and we also take a look at Lana Del Rey's artistic development - beautiful. Please feel free to comment and give us your feedback and suggestions, but for now, as I'm sure you'll agree, there's a lot to get through with this issue, so please go ahead, read on and see if you like it - I for one, really hope that you do.
